Making fun of people’s beards, hijabs etc

If someone made fun of someone’s beard while knowing that keeping the beard is a sunnah for men, but their intention wasn’t to make fun of the sunnah rather they were only making fun of the beard, is this kufr?

Salamalaikum, no its not kufr because you mocked the individual not the ruling. If you had mocked the ruling it would have been an act of kufr.

It's not kufr, unless a general mockery is made towards the ruling or towards all Muslims who follow it....or if the mockery is pointing towards how weird or nonsensical the act of Islam is. So if a person generally says how stupid hijabi women wearing hijaab look or how ugly or stupid bearded men look and they mock Muslims who have beard then this comes in kufr.

If they single out the individual and say you don't look good in beard or mock the individual for their look and personality and tell them to not keep the beard because they look ugly then it's just a major sin but not kufr.

Also it's a sunnah but an obligatory sunnah. So it's haraam to shave or trim it. It's fardh for men to have beard...not sunnah. The act is sunnah as in following the prophet, but keeping it is fardh. Just as it's fardh upon women to follow the hijaab and niqaab and correct conditions of hijaab
